Paper Tales - stories on wheels
Story buddy, Sarah Depasquale, and I have been having way too much fun working on a new set of tales.
In addition to sharing a love of stories and music we’re both keen bike riders and crafters. So the idea of creating a show told from the back of a bike and using paper folded and cut and illustrations made from collage, seemed like the path for us.
We relish every part of the process of developing new work and the moment we launch into the world is pure joy.
A big thanks to the Newport Folk Festival (our local) for giving us space to play!
My beloved bike set for stories. The kamishibai story box is even made from paper - cardboard and papier-mâché. Many or our stories reference nature. It’s a Cuckoo is illustrated with collage and water pencils. I’m quite proud of how this one turned out.
Sarah wrote this piece especially to accompany The Tailor. How lucky am I to have her as my creative partner!
